Why it is worth adding a serum to your skin. We all know the basic skin care tips: we always remove makeup before we go to sleep, we do not forget our hydration and we use sunscreen reverently, even when it is cloudy outside. But there is a new grooming tip that you may not be familiar with. This advice is nothing more than the use of serum (in Greek we call it serum ), which promises to make a big difference in the condition and appearance of our skin.
If you are not convinced yet, let us explain to you better why it is worth adding a serum to your daily skincare routine.
* It is more active than a cream
Serum is the most active cosmetic you can find. Relevant clinical studies have shown that, depending on the ingredients it contains, it offers more impressive results than a cream.
Therefore, whatever your goal (to “erase” fine lines, reduce deep wrinkles, treat discolorations, tighten the face or give radiance to your skin), the serum is the ideal choice.
* Penetrates deep into the skin
In order for an ingredient to penetrate as deeply as possible into the skin, it must have a low molecular weight. The serum usually consists of active ingredients of low molecular weight, which go beyond the outer layer of the skin and provide deep care.
However, precisely because the serum, as a thin liquid composition, immediately penetrates the outer layer of the skin, if you have very sensitive skin, eczema or rosacea, then you need extra care. So stay away from compositions with active ingredients, such as retinol, and prefer those with soothing effects (eg those that contain aloe vera, zinc and fatty acids).
* Moisturizes without “burdening” the skin
When your skin becomes oily, the last thing you want to do is increase its oiliness. However, if you miss its hydration, then your sebaceous glands will end up secreting more oil to try to compensate for the dryness. Somehow a vicious circle is created, in which the serum can end.
Unlike traditional moisturizing compositions (which can block the pores of the skin), it has an aqueous, light composition that is absorbed much faster, leaving no oiliness that favors pimples. Thus, it moisturizes the skin, without “weighing” it down.
Of course, mature and dehydrated skin needs rich hydration, which only a day or night cream can provide. In these cases, then, the serum works as an adjunct to increase the effects of the cream. Keep in mind that since it is thinner than a cream, apply before it.
* Not as expensive as you think
We will not lie to you. The serum confirms the saying that “expensive perfumes come in small bottles”, since although it is smaller in size than a cream, it is much more expensive. However, if you invest in a good serum, you will really have something that works and you will no longer waste money on many products that are just okay. A good serum will give you really visible results.
After all, 2-3 drops, morning and evening, are more than enough to offer maximum results. This way, the amount contained in the 30 ml bottle can keep you for months.
