How to make rose water – Two ways to make a homemade recipe

The preparation of rosewater is done in 2 different ways, which we will analyze below. But first let’s see how to choose the best rose petals to make your own rose petal, as it is otherwise called.

If you do not have roses in your own garden or flower pot to collect them directly from the plant, you can buy fresh ones from a florist. It is important that the wheels are organic and free of chemicals (insecticides and pesticides). Ideal roses are centipedes, plum, French and English.

But if you have your own rose, be sure to pick up the petals early in the morning so the sun doesn’t see them.

You can also use dried petals.

It is worth noting that depending on the color of the rose, you will also get the corresponding fragrance. In particular, pinks and reds have a stronger scent and more petals in each flower. In contrast, yellow, white or orange tires have a lemon, violet or clove aroma.

Preparation of rose water with simmering

This is the easiest and fastest recipe for rosemary.

You will need:
– 1 cup fresh rose petals (about 2-3 roses)
– 1.5 cup distilled water (alternatively filtered)
– 1 large pot with lid
– 1 spray bottle with or without (ideally dark)

Method of preparation:

  1. Start by preparing the petals. Remove them from the stalks and gently wash them with plenty of lukewarm water to remove any dirt and insects.
  2. Place the petals and the distilled water in a pan, which should cover the petals marginally. Caution, if you put too much water it will dilute the rose water.
  3. Put the pot in the eye and light over medium heat.
  4. Once it starts to boil, place the lid on and lower the hob slightly.
  5. Let it simmer for 15-30 minutes until the petals lose their color, that is, they get a pale pink color.
  6. Turn off the heat and allow it to cool completely without breaking it.
  7. When it is cold, strain it and store it in a sterile dark-colored bottle preferably.

It is worth noting that due to its natural origin, the rose water can be kept in the refrigerator for one month or in the bathroom cupboard for a week.

If you want to extend its shelf life, you can finally add the oil from a vitamin E. Ampoule.

In addition, for more fragrance, you can add 2-3 drops of rose essential oil.

Stir the mixture to homogenize before each use.

Rose water recipe by the distillation method

The method of making rose water by distillation is the most traditional. Although it takes longer, rosewater has more benefits for the skin and is purer in color.

You will need:
– 5 cups fresh or 1.5 cup dried rose petals
– Distilled water
– Ice cubes
– 1 large lid pan
– 1 refractory bowl
– 1 brick (a flat stone or a refractory container)
– 1 sterile jar (preferably dark)

Method of preparation:

  1. Separate the petals from the stamina and wash them gently with lukewarm water to remove any dirt and insects.
  2. If you use stone or brick as a support, make sure you wash it very well so that the quality of the rosewood produced will not be compromised.
  3. Take the pot and place the brick (stone or bowl) in the middle. Place the fireproof bowl on top of the finished product, making sure it presses well.
  4. Spread the petals in the pot around the stand.
  5. Add the distilled water until it is completely covered. But beware, the refractory bowl in the middle of the pot should be completely empty.
  6. Then lid the pan, putting the lid upside down, ie with the handle facing the bowl.
  7. Then place a few ice cubes in the upside-down lid and turn the eye to full. So you just made your own rose water distillery. As the steam rises, it comes into contact with the frozen lid and becomes liquefied. This liquid falls into the bowl, gathering the ready-made rose.
  8. Once the water starts to boil, lower the volume and let it simmer.
  9. Make sure to remove water from the melted ice cubes at regular intervals and add new ones.
  10. After 20-25 minutes of simmering, take a close look at the rose petals by opening the oven lid to prevent steam from burning. Be careful, however, that water does not fall from the ice cubes into the container.
  11. If the petals have not faded, let the distillery operate until they lose color. However, if the bowl in the middle of the pot is full, empty it into the sterile container and continue the process.
  12. Once the petals of roses have a translucent white, close the eye and allow the mixture to cool without removing the lid.
  13. When the rose water has cooled, remove the lid without dripping water from the ice cubes into the ready-made natural product and transfer it to the sterile jar.
  14. Your rose water is ready to use. Store in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.

If there is water left with the petals in the pot, you can strain it and store it in another sterile dark container. It is also a ready-made rosewood made by the method of simmering.
